Feeling ready to take on the challenge of lead climbing?
Our Learn to Lead courses are designed to help you progress safely and at a pace that suits you. You must be 18 or over to book onto one of these sessions.

What is lead climbing?
Lead climbing involves clipping the rope into quickdraws as you climb, protecting yourself from falls as you go. It adds new physical and mental challenges and opens the door to climbing steeper, more exciting routes.

We offer a range of Learn to Lead options to suit your experience and goals — choose the one that works best for you below.

Sessions cover:

  • Safe and efficient clipping

  • Lead belaying

  • Rope management

  • Risk awareness and management

  • Practising falls and catching falls

We recommend completing at least 6 hours of instructed lead climbing before climbing independently. This allows you to consolidate your skills while under the supervision of a qualified instructor.

Sessions run on Fridays, 7pm to 9pm
