Membership Terms And Conditions

Below are the terms and conditions that govern timed memberships purchased by members of The Foundry Mountaineering Club. 

The Types Of Membership Are: 

Pre-Paid Memberships 

  • 12 months (single one-off payment)

  • 6 months (single one-off payment)

  • 3 months (single one-off payment)

  • 1 day’s membership (Paid on the day of a visit. A member can climb on the day of purchase only. A day member has membership rights for a 30 period from the date of purchase).

Monthly Memberships - 1 Month (Monthly Direct Debit)

All memberships outlined above, with the exception of the 1-day membership, grant unlimited climbing access during our opening hours. There are no restrictions, whether Peak or Off-Peak, and members are free to visit as often as they like without limitations on the number of visits per week, month, or year.

Members are required to adhere to the Club's Conditions of Use, and failure to do so may result in the termination of membership in accordance with the guidelines outlined in the Club's Constitution. A copy of the Constitution can be provided upon request.

It is the responsibility of each member to promptly inform us of any changes to their personal details to ensure that our records remain accurate and up to date.

Monthly Direct Debit (GoCardless) Memberships:

The Club offers a convenient rolling 1-month direct debit membership scheme facilitated by GoCardless. Payments are deducted from the member's account on the same date each month.

Once the initial payment is processed, members have the flexibility to cancel their membership at any time without incurring additional charges. They can do so by contacting their bank directly or by reaching out to the club via email. The membership will remain active until the last charge date plus 30 days.

In the event that a payment cannot be successfully processed, GoCardless will notify the club and attempt to collect the payment again at a later time. If the second attempt fails, the club will contact the member directly to inform them of the payment issue. Subsequently, the membership will be cancelled, and the member may incur charges for any entries made during the affected period.

A Pre-Paid Timed Membership:

A 3, 6, or 12-month membership commences from the date of purchase and remains active for the designated duration.

Membership freezing is only permitted under exceptional circumstances, subject to the discretion of the club's management. Refunds are not provided for these membership types, and memberships cannot be transferred to other individuals.

Covid-19 Exemptions Or Similar 

In the event of a Government-mandated closure of The Foundry Climbing Centre, the Club will take proactive measures to address the impact on timed memberships.

All timed memberships will be frozen on the day the closure is enforced, ensuring that members do not lose out on the duration of their membership during the closure period. Once the Club is permitted to reopen, membership will resume from that day onward.

To compensate for the duration of the closure, the original period of the membership contract will be extended by the same duration of time that the Club was forced to close. This extension ensures that members receive the full value of their membership.

For members enrolled in GoCardless memberships, their memberships will be promptly cancelled by the Club on the day of closure. Please note that refunds for GoCardless memberships will not be provided by the Club.

These measures are implemented to mitigate the impact of closures on our valued members and to ensure fairness and transparency in our membership policies.
