Bringing a Group to The Foundry

If you're a qualified climbing instructor looking to bring clients to The Foundry, you're very welcome. Whether you're running sessions for a school, youth group, sports club, or private clients, this page explains what you need to do before your visit and on the day.

Please note: this arrangement is for organisations with their own qualified instructors. If your group needs Foundry instructors to lead the session, please get in touch and we can discuss other options.

Before Your First Visit

All instructors who will be leading sessions at The Foundry must be registered with us before their first visit. To register, each instructor needs to:

You will also need to send us, in advance of your first session:

  • A copy of each instructor's relevant qualifications (the minimum accepted qualification is a CWI or CWA awarded by Mountain Training, and qualifications must be relevant to the activity being delivered)

  • A copy of your organisation's public liability insurance, confirming it covers the activity being conducted

Please send these to wall@foundryclimbing.com. We'd recommend doing this well in advance of your first visit rather than on the day.

Pricing

Participants are charged at our standard day rate, which may vary depending on age and time of day. You can check our current prices on our pricing page. Instructors are not charged an entry fee.

We can take payment on the door, or we can arrange an invoice for your organisation. Just let us know which you'd prefer when you arrive, or get in touch in advance if you'd like to arrange invoicing.

On the Day

When you arrive, please complete an External Group Form at reception before your session begins. Every participant in your group must be listed on this form, along with any relevant medical information.

A few things to keep in mind:

  • Only registered, qualified instructors can lead sessions

  • The maximum instructor-to-participant ratio is 1:9

  • You are responsible for the safety and supervision of your group at all times while at the centre, and must remain with your group in a supervisory role throughout your visit

  • Any accidents or near misses must be reported to reception as soon as practicable

  • If any of your participants are under 18, you must have obtained parental consent before the session

A Note on Risk

As with all climbing activity, we ask that you and your clients are aware of the British Mountaineering Council's Participation Statement: climbing and mountaineering are activities with a danger of personal injury or death. Participants should be aware of and accept these risks, and be responsible for their own actions and involvement.
