New Wall Build

Summer 2025

We’re thrilled to announce that this summer, The Foundry will be undertaking a major renovation project to enhance your climbing experience.

After 33 years of loyal service, the iconic Moon Wall will be getting a full upgrade. In its place, we’re constructing a brand-new, modern climbing wall designed to offer more variety of route styles and hold types. This is part of our ongoing commitment to provide excellent climbing facilities for our community.

The new wall will feature a timber frame and plywood skin, painted to match the refreshed style introduced on the main wall during our 2023 renovation. This will create a seamless and continuous climbing surface around the entire main hall. As part of this transformation, we’ll also be repainting the DMM Wall and Slab with a matching aesthetic and a more textured surface for improved climbing feel.

We’re proud to have Percy Bishton, of Climbing Works and Olympic route-setting fame, and Rob Napier, of Enigma Climbing and long-time Foundry legend leading the build, alongside our skilled in-house team, who will once again be taking care of the finishing touches.

Key Dates:

  • June 16th-30th: Deliveries and preparation begin

  • June 30: Construction officially starts

  • Early August: Estimated project completion

While this project will bring some disruption, The Foundry will remain open throughout. We aim to finish daily construction by 4pm, allowing us to reopen as much of the main hall as possible each day. However, due to safety requirements, there may be occasional full-day closures of the main hall. We will keep you informed via our social media channels with real-time updates.

We can’t wait for you to experience the new wall and hope you’re as excited as we are about what’s coming. Thank you for your continued support, and happy climbing!
